David Äbel - Präludium pedaliter [alternate]

2024-7-9
D-B Ms. Lynar B 3
No.24 [top-left foliation]
Praeludium / pedaliter / David Abel.

A few David Äbels are known from North-Germany in the 16th-17th centuries. One of them was an organist in Wismar starting in 1617, and from 1619 until his death in 1639 at St. Marien, Rostock. This is the organist who is believed to have written this and one other composition in Lynar B 3. (See Beckmann, Klaus: Die Norddeutsche Schule II [2009] 480-481)

This is an alternate take during which I coupled the first manual to pedal, instead of the second manual to pedal.
